International support
Living in another country can transform far more than our surroundings. It can also change how we relate to our identity, our relationships and our sense of belonging. I offer online consultations in Spanish and French to adults experiencing migration, expatriation and intercultural adjustment. Clinical consultations are not offered in English.
Migration and intercultural adjustment
Migration does not only mean learning to live in another country. It also involves reorganising reference points, relationships, routines and ways of belonging that had long been part of our lives.
Adjustment is not linear and does not happen at the same pace for everyone. Difficulties may arise on arrival, or months—even years—later, once daily life appears to be established.
What can change when living between cultures
Living between cultures can alter aspects of life that once seemed stable.
Relationships, our place within the family, professional life, the language in which we express ourselves and even how we perceive ourselves can take on new meanings.
At times, these changes bring enthusiasm and curiosity. At others, nostalgia, fatigue, uncertainty or a sense of not fully belonging anywhere may arise.
Both experiences can coexist. Adjustment does not mean leaving behind who you were, but finding a way to integrate what you have lived with the person you are becoming.
This space may be right for you if…
You find it difficult to feel that you belong where you currently live.
You miss people, places or parts of your former life while also valuing the life you have built.
You feel like one person in your country of origin and another when you are away.
You are experiencing changes in your personal, family or professional identity.
You are in an intercultural relationship and cultural differences are affecting how you relate to one another.
You are considering returning home, migrating again or making an important decision about your future.
You have lived abroad for years and some experiences of migration still need a place to be considered.
International online consultation
Geographical distance need not prevent you from undertaking a psychological process in your language and within a cultural framework that takes your experience into account.
Consultations take place online, in Spanish or French, and last 50 minutes. Clinical consultations are not offered in English.
We will consider not only what brings you to consultation, but also the context in which you live: your migration history, relationships, cultural differences, the changes you have experienced and the resources you have developed along the way.
Fee: €100 per session. Availability is confirmed individually, taking into account the time difference in the country from which you attend.
Living far away can also be an opportunity to see ourselves anew.
We cannot always choose everything that changes when we migrate, but we can find new ways of relating to what we have lived and to the life we are building.
If you feel you need a space to talk about what living between cultures means to you, I would be glad to meet you.
